I want to thank everyone who has replied to the survey, it really helps us to know what you think. Here are a couple of responses to some questions:
Many have replied that the parent conferences are not satisfactory. I would agree with you on this. The problem is that we can have three nights a year for this purpose. One is the Night of Excellence in the Spring, which has been shown to be very popular. This leaves two nights for the teachers to meet with the parents. Each teacher has over 100 students, usually 60 to 80 parents come on these evenings. With only 180 minutes available it would leave at best, 3 minutes per parent. This is certainly not enough time to hear everything you need to hear. If your student is having difficulties, please email the teacher and or set up a separate conference with them.
A divided question in regard to response was on communication. Many said it was very good, while some said they emailed and got no reply back. You should hear back from a staff member within 24 hours. If you have not, please call the office. We have had parents who email us and for some reason does not get through and others who had the wrong address. Be sure that all email look like w_hester@stoughtonschools.org

Buses: Many complaints here. Due to budget cuts these have been a real problem. There is also no late bus anymore, this was mainly cut due to the fact that few students rode it the last two years. (to save money as well) OMS does not have a lot to do with bussing and have no say on the routes.
