There was an article in the Boston Globe (5/19) saying that of the 600 people to take the MTEL Math test, only 27% passed. The article went on to say that this shows that teachers are not qualified to teach math in schools. I am happy to say that at the middle school, four teachers took the test and that ALL passed. The staff at OMS is highly qualified and it continues to be one of our goals to hire only qualified teachers. Currently we have 100% of our staff having passed the appropriate test.
