A informational sheet will be distributed to all families during the opening weeks of school regarding head lice. Head lice are tiny, wingless insects that live and breed in human hair. The eggs, called nits, are easier to see than the lice and are usually found attached to hair shafts close to the scalp behind the ears and on the back of the head.
Head lice is contagious and is spread through the sharing of personal items such as combs, brushes, scarves, coats, hats, costumes, helmets, pillows, sleeping bags and stuffed animals. To minimize the risk remind your child not to share these items.
Head lice can be effectively treated and eliminated with the proper guidance and information. If you are concerned, please call me anytime during the school year.
