Vision and hearing screenings take place annually during the elementary school years. It is important to remember this is just a screening process and if there are concerns it is important to share them with your child’s physician. If your child has had a recent appointment or has one in the near future, please let me know.

Notices will be sent to parents of those children who fail the Massachusetts vision and hearing tests. These forms must be completed and returned to school after the evaluation has been done. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns regarding your child's hearing or vision anytime during the school year.

It is important to remember that according to The American Foundation for Vision Awareness, it is estimated that vision screening identifies about 5% of vision problems in children. A comprehensive eye exam measures many visual skills essential to learning and should be considered as part of a routine health maintenance plan.
