The Robert O'Donnell Middle School currently has 29 ELL students from the countries of: Brazil, Puerto Rico, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Haiti, Guadeloupe, and Nepal.
There is one ELL specialist who provides ELL instruction to students during scheduled ELL classes. The ELL specialist also provides language support in general education classes such as math. The number of ELL classes each year depends on the number of ELL students enrolled.
All ELL students take content area (history, math, language arts and science) classes and specials (i.e. art, P.E., music, computers, etc) as their peers do. Beginner ELL students are taught content areas in ELL classes and attend specials with their peers. Intermediate and advanced ELL students attend ELL classes for extra academic support as well as content area classes with their peers.
